Just living with lymphedema and the other stuff!
Entry for July 15, 2007

I'm pretty bummed out today, I just replied to a young man on yahoo answers about lymphedema, he's got surgery scheduled for Aug 3, and it just kills me to think of how that will impact his life.  Doctors are not educated and they think cutting a leg or arm off will "cure" lymphedema, there is no cure and all that does is make it worse of a risk for infection and if the system is impaired that will not fix it, lymphedema will set in other areas.  It's so frustrating trying to educate doctors, they are supposed to be the medical experts and all they seem to be are educated idiots.

It makes my awareness projection harder, and harder for all of us out there trying to help people and educate them.  I get so angry I want to scream when I hear of things like this.

We, the patients, know more than the doctors and that's sooo not right.  We need another title in between therapists and lymphologists such as Lymphedema Doctor or LD.

hey its me cj the one who was having the surgery.I had ther surgery and recovered fine my life is 75% easier, but i don't recomend this for other people since everyones condition is different. The reason i decided to do it was because i had no choice my skin was horrible, i was getting serious infections every month.I nearly died july 2007 from a bad infection. I was in I.C.U for a week.
so thats when i decided it was time to do something about it.
thats when a great doctor from UCLA said he could do this operation (the amputation).
its been 5 months since the surgery i'm doing great no infections since.i have minor swelling in the stump, but nothing close to the 98 pound leg. I get around using a walker or when i'm tired my scooter.

thank you tina for your concern.if you or anyone else have any questions you could email me at cjhurt92@yahoo.com
